Summer 2006 News...

As Beijing beautifies for the season, plans -- and many people -- are in the works for Subs' triumphant return to Europe. Fans in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark won't have to wait much longer to get a taste of the Subs Experience... Looks like mid-July and Finnish lands are the first when and where's of what will be the most extensive Subs sortie yet.

As of May 25, Subs hit the road, headed to Anyang, Wuhan, Changsha Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai and back to Beijing for a gig on June 10 at Yu gong yi shan. If you're up in dongbei, look for Subs to hit Shenyang as part of the festival to mark the 20th anniversary of Chinese rock between June 16-18. Details are still to be confirmed...

Look out for Bergen Rock City Volume III from our friends at Norway's October Party Records, as well as a new JEF ep in the coming weeks...

Keep checking in here for the latest scoops. Meanwhile, Bergen Rock City Volume II is about to hit the streets across the country and JEF (www.myspace.com/jefband) will be in China soon.
SUBS AND NORWAY NEWS

Norwegians out there will have noticed that SUBS were featured heavily in commercials lately: Acclaimed music program LYDVERKET featured an episode entitled "BEIJING ROCK CITY", the commercials for which showed SUBS doing their thang. Alas, editing removed them from the actual show, which was broadcast March 10. Check the show's site for more: http://www.nrk.no/lydverket/

Speaking of ROCK CITIES... BERGEN ROCK CITY, VOLUME I is OUT NOW in CD shops, music stores, live venues and more ACROSS CHINA. 5,000 readers of TONGSU GEQU magazine will find a CD in the April issue of the magazine as well. The compilation, which features 18 bands from Bergen (ok, 2 are from elsewhere in Norway), is being distributed for FREE thanks to October Party Records, SUBS and YGTwo. This is only the first of many discs to come and is ONLY AVAILABLE IN CHINA!

January News

We are hard at work on Subs' return to Nordic Europe for the summer... At the beginning of the month, the band blew away the post-rock people at Kuala Lumpur's Street Roar Festival. Meanwhile, we are busy preparing for the arrival in China of JEF, a Norwegian punk act that has helped Subs in too many ways to mention here. Check them out at any of the following sites: www.myspace.com/jefband, www11.nrk.no/urort/user/?id=144, jef.iuma.com, www.purevolume.com/jef. In preparation for JEF's April China Tour, October Party Records has put together what will likely be the first of many compilation CDs to distribute --- for FREE --- across China. BERGEN ROCK CITY Volume I will hit shops, mags, clubs and more sometime after Spring Festival, and will feature 16 bands of all kinds from Bergen (a couple from outside of town, but Norwegian, all). This will definitely be the start of some serious Norwegian presence in the Middle Kingdom...

End of Year News

Back from their second trip to Europe, Subs has some crazy stories about being on the road in Holland, Germany and France. Suffice it to say that Europeans were rocked and good times were had by all. As always, for lots of photos (and Chinese updates), see the band's blog at subs.blogcn.com

In the new year, look for a Subs profile in Australia's Nylon Magazine (http://www.nylonmag.com/) and more overseas dates. For Beijing fans, good news: Subs will be playing a New Year's Eve show at the New Get Lucky.

On Sept 30, The World, a syndicated radio show co-produced by BBC World Service, PRI and WGBH Boston ran a story on Subs. The interview was done afloat in the Oslo harbour back before the band played at the Oya Festival in August:

www.theworld.org

follow the Global Hit link.

AND...

On the Road, Aug 2005

A collection of updates from Subs' Aug 2005 Nordic Tour:

Oslo, Aug 14
Ni hao from Oslo, where Subs have already played three shows and blown literally thousands of minds… Jon here, along for the Subs ride and just updating anyone who’s out there wondering…
The Oya Festival wrapped up last night, and we all got a chance to see some great music: Franz Ferdinand, Hot Hot Heat, The Thing, Sons and Daughters, Death From Above 1979, Wolf Parade, Turbonegro… The list goes on…
Subs’ first show in Oslo was at the legendary Last Train during the Oya Festival’s Club Night, which saw a hundred bands play all across the city. Despite some tummy troubles, the band blew the roof off the place, and were met with amazing response, in no small part due to the fierce loyalty of Oslo band Bonk, who have helped the band so much over the last few days.

SUBS

Subs screaming punk rock is the most sought-after live experience in China. Their gigs are riotous explosions of pure energy rare to the Middle Kingdom.

This is their story.
